Summer Learning Journey - Week 4 - Day 16 - Activity 2 - My Public Holiday

I have to write about:

Create a brand new public holiday for the country.  Use your creativity to come up with a name for the holiday and a short description of how people in the country celebrate the holiday. Do they all get the day off? Do they eat special foods or go to special events to mark the day?

I will call my public holiday NZ Fam's day which is a day you spend a day with your family, and everyone will have a day off from there work. Also the special food will be biscuits, cake, pork and pizza.  Also the special market that you can go to will be sky city in the sky tower.

Summer Learning Journey - Week 4 - Day 16 - Activty 1 - National Holidays

I am writing about:

Imagine that you are visiting on the national holiday of your chosen country. On your blog tell us what you would eat, see and do on that day.
I am choosing out of these country's.
Canada – The national day in Canada is called ‘Canada Day.’ It is celebrated on 1 July every year. People in Canada like to celebrate the holiday by getting together with friends, having a meal and setting off fireworks. People usually eat food from the barbecue on Canada Day. Some of the most popular foods are hot dogs, hamburgers, poutine (fries with gravy and cheese), and nachos.  C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Canada Day photo.jpg

Chile – The national day in Chile is called the Fiestas Partrias of Chile. It is celebrated on two different days - 18 September and 19 September. The people of Chile love to celebrate their national days by going to watch Chilean rodeos, dancing the cueca (a traditional dance), watching parades and going to barbecues. Food is a very important part of the celebration. Chileans like to eat lots of meat. A popular dish is called pino (a mixture of beef and onion).C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Chilean National Day.jpg

Germany – The national day in Germany is called The Day of German Unity. It is celebrated on 3 October each year. Everyone in Germany has the day off from school and work. They usually get together with friends and family to enjoy some delicious food. Some of their favourite foods are sausages, potato salad, and sauerkraut (sour cabbage).

Malaysia – The national day in Malaysia is called Hari Merdeka or Independence Day. It is celebrated every year on 31 August. It is a public holiday and the people of Malaysia usually celebrate by having large parades, concerts and events. The military men and women in Malaysia usually participate in the parades. The children in Malaysia usually get dressed up in their best clothes and people eat very traditional Malaysian foods.C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\MD army.jpg

United Kingdom – There is currently no official national day in the United Kingdom, however, there are many public holidays that people celebrate. They are usually called ‘bank holidays’ because the banks close on those days. The British people love to get together with family and friends on the bank holidays. They will often go to watch a horse racing or greyhound racing on a holiday. They may also get together at a local pub to watch a game of football (soccer) or rugby on the television. Common foods to eat on the bank holidays include English favourites such as fish and chips or pies.

C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\english parade.jpg
Mexico – The national day in Mexico is celebrated over two days – 15 and 16 September. It is a very special time for the people of Mexico as it represents the beginning of the Mexican War of Independence from Spain. The war started in 1810 and ended in 1821. Each year the current Mexican president re-enacts the ‘call for independence’ by ringing a bell. Everyone in Mexico has time off over this period and many spend time with their family and friends. They share special food together like enchiladas, cecinas, and bistec. Some Mexicans will participate in parades and engage in folklore dancing.C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Mexico independence day.jpg

South Africa – Freedom Day is celebrated on the 27th of April in South Africa. It celebrates freedom and commemorates the first elections held in 1994 in South Africa where both white and black people were allowed to vote. Prior to 1994, only white people were allowed to vote. Black people had very limited voting rights. On Freedom Day, the people of South Africa celebrate by eating special dishes likes Vetkoek (Fried bread with filling), bobtie (spicy quiche), and peppermint crisp tarts. C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Freedom day in SA.jpg

On UEA National Day people often dress up in green, white, black and red and attend car rallies and dance shows. They will also decorate their homes with banners and attend large firework shows and concerts. It is a huge day of celebration!C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\UAE national day.jpg
Japan – In Japan, the national day is celebrated on 11 February. It is called ‘National Foundation Day’ and it honours the original founding of Japan and the reign of the first emperor, Jimmu. On National Foundation Day, some people in Japan will gather together to celebrate, however they do not usually have large parties or celebrations. Most people will have the day off of work.
C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\National Foundation Day - Japan.jpg
Australia – The National Day of Australia, or Australia Day, is held every year on 26 January. It is a huge event in Australia with most people attending local community festivals, concerts or parties. New Australian citizens are sworn in on the 26th of January and everyone has the day off of work. It is common for people to get together with friends to have a barbecue. Steak and chips are often on the menu!
C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Australia Day.jpeg

Out of these country's I choose Australia because I love steak and chips, also I love barbecue's. Also the 26th of January is only 10 more days left. I love concerts and festivals or parties but my family is usually late every time we go. I would love if my dad had a day of from his very hard work.

Summer Learning Journey - Week 3 - Day 15 - Activity 2 - Loving School

Today I am writing about:

Back in those days, children usually went to school until they reached the age of 12 or 13. They then left school and went to work. Imagine that you were alive 100 years ago. How would you feel if you had to leave school at the age of 12? Would you be happy or sad? On your blog, tell us how you would feel.

If I left school at age 12 I will feel sad because I LOVE school.  I am the only one who loves school I will cry for school if I didn't go to school. Also I am turning 12 this year, I will be crushed to pieces if I had to leave school at the age of 12.

  • Summer Learning Journey - Week 3 - Day 14 - Activity 1 - 3 Rules when I become the president.

    Today I am writing about:
Here in New Zealand, the prime minister of the country is the Honourable John Key. Imagine that you are Mr. Key and you have the power to create laws (rules) that all people in New Zealand would have to follow. If I (Anna) were the prime minister I would make a rule that everyone should eat lollies for breakfast. What three (3) rules would you make up if you were the prime minister? On your blog tell us what your three rules would be.

My 3 rules I would do if I was president:

    1. That all schools will have chrome books.

    2. We have to eat anything for breakfast.

    3. Have 2 shops near a school, The two shops will be a diary and a bakery.

    Summer Learning Journey - Week 3 - Day 13 - Activity 2 - R5 Band

    I am writing about:

Which two musicians/bands would I invite to perform? On your blog tell us the names of the two musicians/bands and tell us a bit about them. Where are they from? What kind of music do they play?

I would invite a band called R5, also the people in that band is Ross Lynch, Rydel Lynch, Riker Lynch, Rocky Lynch, and Ellington Ratliff. If you don't know them here is a song Click the link. They are really cool singers. The R5 is from Los Angeles, California, United States. They play a mixture but I think they mostly play like normal music because I do not know what kind of music they play.

    Summer Learning Journey - Week 3 - Day 13 - Activity 1 - Justin Beiber Songs

What I am going to write about!!

Justin Bieber is arguably one of the most famous musicians in the world right now. He has had (#) of Number 1 hits, including the songs:
Watch the three videos. After you have finished watching them, rank them from #1 (best) to #3 (worst). On your blog, list the three videos in order from best to work and tell us why you have ranked them in that order.

My first favourite song is Love Yourself because this song is about just loving yourself and who cares about what people say about you, this song is about be yourself.

My next favourite is Baby because my little sister loves that song and she always use to say Ohh ohh ohh oh DA dad which was so cute because that song makes me think of a little baby being a part of my big family <3.

My Last is Sorry, I really like this song but I love those two first but I like this song because when you want to say sorry you can just sing it like: Is it to late to say sorry.

If you want to know what the songs sound like (you probably already know what it sounds like because it came out ages ago) Click the links.

    Summer Learning Journey - Week 3 - Day 11 - Activity 2 - My Sports Hero

Today I have to write a short paragraph about my sports hero.

My sport hero is Maria Tutaia because I LOVE playing netball and she is a really good player and she is so cool. Also you can tell she likes netball too. She helps me get better when I am playing netball. She also reminds me of my older sister Mele because they start with the letter M and Mele is a good player. She loves playing netball, she is always Center and Goal Attack and that is Maria's position ( I think) but yeah.

Hope you enjoyed my post. Who is you sport hero? Tell in the comments. Thank you everyone, BYE!!

    Summer Learning Journey - Week 3 - Day 11 - Activity 1 - Cricket inside the house

Also when ever my mum or dad sees me read a book they tell my older sister to go read a book because she is always lying in bed watching on her phone. If I don't have anything to watch on I read a book. Also out of my family I am the only one who likes reading because my siblings like maths, I like maths and writing but my very favourite is READING!!!

    Physical Education
    12:15- 1:00 p.m.

I have to think about my school and what I typically do in a day. Compare it with the diary from the German student. What is similar? What is different? In your blog, tell us:

At my school we don't do German, History, Religion, English, Music well we use to, French, Physical Education and Science. We only do Art on free time. Also our first break is at 11:00 and our second break is at 1:00 and we finish school at 3:00. Also I would rather go to a New Zealand school instead of a German school because I don't understand any of the subjects that they do.
