Walt: Understand vocabulary that is more difficult and specific

I learnt how to pin volcanoes on Google Maps, It is very fun we had to follow the instructions on my doc to get this onto my blog. I did 12 volcanoes, how many volcanoes can you pin? Here is a link to go to my Google Maps. Click Here. Also those red shaped balloons, that's were some of my volcanoes are. For Example: There is 3 volcano's at Canada. The Cat At The Beach

Walt: narrate a story that involves a cat, at the beach and a friend needs help

It was a beautiful sunny day to spend at the beach. Kerstein the cat was relaxing on the hot white sand. Her master was paddling in the refreshing crystal water, when suddenly her friend Nyree came along. He was looking very sorry for himself.

“Why the long face?” asked Kerstein “My grandma died” replied Nyree, Kerstein said “ I am so sorry about your grandma but would you like to do something, maybe a game?”. “ No actually I don’t feel like a game today, maybe tomorrow?” Said Nyree. Kerstein did everything to cheer up Nyree, but she always said “NO”.

Nyree will always say to Kerstein “ What do you think my grandma is doing right now?”. Kerstein said “ Come on let’s get Ice- cream”, “OK” said Nyree. So Kerstein and Nyree walked to their master and they saw him eating a ice-cream Kerstein and Nyree started to dig the sand the master was so confused “ What are doing” said the master. The master didn't know what they were doing so the master just gave his ice-cream to Kerstein and Nyree. So Nyree was so happy she had forgotten about her grandma.

The disappearance

One afternoon a girl named Sheales was playing outside, her mother came outside and said

“ Sheales can you go and buy me some milk please.” “ Yes mum” said Sheales. So her mum gave her the money and she started to walk to the shops.

While she was walking she was singing as well “ LA LA LA LA” said Sheales, Then Sheales tripped she had hurt herself so badly, she was screaming so LOUD. After that she started to calm down but then she saw a black shadow, it was a man. Sheales said “ Who are you?” The man replied “ Hi my name is Mr Somerville I am a teacher at Pt England School, I heard you screaming so I ran all the way here.”

Mr Somerville and Sheales was talking for a long time, but  while they were talking they saw a car came past and then it just disappeared. Sheales was very scared she said to Mr Somerville “W-What just happened,” Mr Somerville replied “ Well a car came past and it just disappeared, Why?” Mr Somerville didn't care what happened but Sheales did she was shaking so fast, There were no cars on the road.

Mr Somerville said “ Look.” “Look at what?” Said Sheales “ The trees were fading.” Sheales and Mr Somerville were panicking “ HELP HELP” said Sheales and Mr Somerville nobody replied back because the people were fading as well.  The only people that were alive was Sheales and Mr Somerville, Sheales was wondering if her mum was still alive. So she ran home with Mr Somerville, but Mr Somerville couldn't catch up to Sheales she was too fast.

They finally made it to Sheales’s house. Sheales rushed to the door she knocked on the door,  but nobody was home, she saw a window it was open Sheales told Mr Somerville to get on the floor but Mr Somerville said “ But I just brought these new pants, I don’t want to mess it up” “ Hurry up” said Sheales so Mr Somerville went on the floor his pants got muddy, Sheales climbed into the window then she jumped into the house she opened the door for Mr Somerville. They looked everywhere but her mum was nowhere to be found.

“ It’s ok, you will have to live with me then” said Mr Somerville Sheales was so sad, but they heard a knock on the door  Sheales rushed to the door and it was her mum she gave her a big hug. “ I brought the milk because you didn't get it” said Sheales’s mum. So Sheales introduced Mr Somerville to her mum and they were best friends. So they lived happily ever after.

Something strange was happening.One by one, things were disappearing. First my mum, then my dad and now my sister were all gone. It was job to investigate for sudden disappearance and find a solution.

Max’s Camping Trip

Max could see from the distance a family that were at each other's throats. The father was yelling “ How could you forget the food?” To which the mother replied. “ It was a honest mistake, I'm sure someone will help us".

Te Waka O Aoraki

Walt: Retell the story again in our own words.

1. What had Aoraki and his brothers set out to do?

             Aoraki and his brothers were going fishing.

2. Explain why was Aoraki distracted while he was chanting his karakia?

              He got distracted because his brothers were scared.

3. Which part of the canoe was stuck in the ocean and which part launched into space? Stern was stuck and the bow went to space.
4. Why couldn't they return back to the sky? Because they crashed
5. Explain why the brothers turned to stone? Because the magic had broken the karakia spell.
6. Where are Aoraki and his brothers now? South Island.

                             Here is a paragraph about the story.

Aoraki was the son of ranginui the sky father and his mother was papatuanuku. One day Aoraki and his brothers wanted to go home but they couldn't go because they turned into stone. Aoraki and his brothers became the mountains of the Southern Alps with Aoraki ( Mount Cook) the highest peak.
