This is a great picture of you playing cricket. My son, Aronui, has recently started playing and he loves it! Are you a bowler or a fielder? I am trying to learn all of the names of the fielding positions but some of them sound really strange to me, like 'fine leg' and 'deep square leg.' I've never heard of positions like that before!
I am sure that, over time, I'll learn the names and be able to chat with Aronui about the game. I'm trying to watch the Black Caps play this summer so that I can learn about the game as well. I recently watched the Black Caps play Bangladesh in the third T-20 game and I really enjoyed it. My favourite player is Kane Williamson. (I think that I like him so much because we share the same last name!)
Do you ever watch Kane and the Black Caps play cricket? Apparently they are going to host Australia here in Auckland at the end of the month. I'll have to save my money and see if I can take Aronui to the game...
Hope that you have fun playing cricket this summer. Keep up the awesome blogging!
Kane Williamson is my favourite player too!! Did Aronui join the Summer Learning Journey? I also wore a red t-shirt because my school (Pt England School)our uniform colour is red so wore a red t-shirt.
Thanks Rachel,
Have a great holiday with Aronui and your family & friends!!
That is so cool that we both like the same cricketer! Aronui and I will definitely watch some of the upcoming test between the Black Caps and Bangladesh. He is only 6 but he's learning a lot about the game by watching it with Andy and I. Andy's son, Billy, also lives with us and he loves cricket so he's able to teach us quite a bit!
Unfortunately, Aronui was too young to join the Summer Learning Journey programme this year but he has been commenting on some blogs when he gets a chance. He doesn't use computers at school very often so he's still learning how to type properly. It's fun to sit with him and help him write out his comments. I'm sure that he'll be keen to comment on your blogs this week-end. Is that okay? Do you mind if he writes to you?
I don't mind if Aronui comments to me because I really want to know more about him, So I am sorry I never commented that much it is because I was watching my little sister Quincess play touch.
Thanks for being so open minded and for allowing Aronui to comment on your posts. I will tell him that he is allowed to write to you tonight and I am sure that he will post a message on your blog :)
How did your sister's touch rugby game go? Did they win?
Hi Anna, my name is Aronui. I am 6 years old and I love cricket. My mom just bought me a cricket set to play with. One day I want to be a good cricket player like you. Can you hit the ball pretty far?
Thanks for the amazing blog picture! I had no idea you played cricket. When I was your age I had just started Tae Kwon Do, which is a Korean Martial Art. It was pretty good and I used to learn and spar with one of the old New Zealand Olympians.
I also like cricket, but mainly because I liked going to the Oval in Wellington and hanging out with my friends there on a hot sunny day, followed by a dip in the harbour! I think cricket might be fun to play, but a bit hard to watch. What do you think?
